After a Historic Agreement between India and Pakistan, Kartarpur Corridor is Now Open For Indian Pilgrims

A place lost in history has found its way through the marching and roaring Ravi River between India & Pakistan, giving a boost to the socialists on both sides who sort off doing more than their limits are just for the greater good, for peace everywhere. Kartarpur Corridor is not just a shrine on either side of Redcliff line, it is the step beyond political issues, International disputes, economic crisis and many more affecting factors just like the Ravi River this Corridor has finally made its way to the pilgrims and both the nations have made it simpler (no visa) than it could have ever been not to forget almost no cost is involved at this place’s visit.

Brief History of the Kartarpur Corridor

After the partition, if India, Gurudwara Darbar Sahib (now in Kartarpur Punjab of Pakistan)  remained in the Punjab of Pakistan and Gurudwara Dera Baba Nanak (Gurdaspur, India)in India. Many socialists, N.G.O tried to connect the place where the first guru of Sikh Guru Nanak lived his last days. Because the two places lie on the hot international borders, this would always be time taking and more complicated to make a possible and secure passage.

Kartarpur corridor connects Gurudwara Darbar Sahib in Pakistan to Gurudwara Dera Baba Nanak in India which is around 4.7kms in distance making a secure and easy way for the mostly Sikh community on either side of the international borders.

Road to the Kartarpur Corridor Agreement

In 1999 the dynamic P.M. of India Atal Bihari Vajpayee laid the foundation talks with Nawaz Sharif his counterpart About the Kartarpur Corridor as a part of Delhi-Lahore Bus Diplomacy. The good intentions and work of many looked like finding its way was halted due to the Kargil war. In 2004 Pakistan started its side of construction through the repairing of the shrine that was started in 2000. After more than a decade in 2018, Pakistan’s Prime Minister Imran Khan agreed to allow the sentiments of the Sikh community and other pilgrims on both sides to pass through the Kartarpur corridor, the final nail for the peace was laid on 9th Nov 2019 by P.M Narendra Modi on 550th birth anniversary of Guru Nanak Dev. Rightly said peace and holy faith will find its passage no matter how or what obstacle are on the way just like Ravi River finds its way.
